Natural Beauty Tips – TIRED OR TOXIC?

Introducing Bentonite Clay: Nature’s Great Detoxifier

Every day we come into contact with harmful substances, whether through the inhalation of pollution from car exhaust or by ingesting the pesticides, herbicides and preservatives used on our food–not to mention the out-gassing of chemicals from furniture, carpeting and paint. This onslaught of toxins takes a toll on our health, often contributing to symptoms of fatigue, headaches, memory issues, mood swings, muscle and joint pain, and causing our organs to work overtime to deal with and discharge all of this. Luckily, nature produces bentonite clay, which is a great detoxifier from toxins and heavy metals. It’s perfect for a rejuvenating clay bath or a foot bath.

Bentonite clay is mined from the earth, where it develops from aged volcanic ash. Since it has a strong negative electromagnetic charge, when activated with water, it acts as a magnet to pull toxins and heavy metals out of the body.

Taking a 10-20 minute clay bath or foot bath once a week for a month, and then once a month from then on, is important for healthy skin and general health maintenance.  I prefer LL’s Magnetic brand clay from the company Natural Healthy Concepts. I like that my purchase comes with a handy small screen to tape over the drain with duct tape so that clumps of clay don’t clog the drain. Mountain Rose Herbs is also another good company that sells bentonite clay.

Instructions:
  1. Fill tub with warm water.
  2. Wear a mask in order not to inhale the powdered clay. Using your hands, mix 1/2-1 cup of clay with water in a non-metal bowl to break up the clumps and create a paste. Add as much water as needed.
  3. Transfer clay mixture into the warm tub.
  4. Clay can be slippery when wet, so please enter and exit the tub with caution.
  5. Soak anywhere from 10-20 minutes, but no longer than 20 minutes. Soaking longer than 20 minutes may cause you to experience detox symptoms such as lightheadedness and fatigue.
  6. Some minerals and electrolytes may be removed by the clay bath, so I take a few drops of Blue Ocean Minerals dietary supplement in a glass of water to replenish any lost minerals.
  7. Shower to rinse off the clay.
  8. Relax and enjoy a restful sleep.
