EXERCISE: PROTECTS YOU FROM FREE RADICALS
We all know antioxidants such as vitamin C and E have been touted as protection from free radicals-molecules that damage cells and tissue and contribute to disease.
Aerobic exercise contributes to the protection from free radicals as well, but recently I learnt that lifting weights is also a weapon against free radicals.

Researchers tested 62 people with an average age of 68. Those who lifted weights three times a week for six months showed a lower incidence of free radical damage.
The group that did no exercise had a 13% increase in damage, which is expected as you age, while the exercising group had an increase of only 2%.
It looks like it’s time for me to dust off my old weights.
