Breathe For Stress Relief

To relieve stress and help you fall asleep more easily, spend a few minutes doing a yoga breathing practice known as alternate nostril breathing.

  1. Place your right thumb over your right nostril to close the airway.
  2. Inhale through the left nostril for 10 counts and then use your ring finger to close off the left nostril.
  3. Lift your thumb, and exhale out of the right nostril.
  4. Breathe in through the right nostril for 10 counts. Place your thumb over your right nostril again, then exhale out of your left nostril.

This completes a single round. Try to do at least 5 rounds per sitting. This breathing practice calms the nervous system and steadies the mind.
